Did you ever drink kool-aid as a kid? I did, and I loved it. My mom only bought it in the summertime as an alternative way to cool us kiddos down after a long day of playing outside. But as most of us know…kool-aid isn’t the healthiest beverage for us to drink…and I only rarely buy it for the kids. I mean, you gotta let kids be kids a little bit right ;)
I came across this recipe from Two Peas and their Pod. Another food blog, but with a hubby and wifey making lot’s of yummy recipes. And it seemed an awful lot like Kool-Aid without all the extra nonsense!
After reading the list of ingredients, I knew it would be super easy and it sounded like it made a lot…which was definitely worth it to me. I really hate it when I come across a yummy drink, but it only serves 2. I am not a family of 2…I’m proud to say that we’re a family of 4 and we love to entertain…so I thought I would entertain with this drink when Josh’s brother Jeffrey and sister Jewelissa came over for dinner and a movie one night. To go along with this drink, we made Teriyaki Turkey Pineapple Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries ( we’ll blog the burgers at some point, I promise) and I made the Strawberry Limeade to go along with it…and I am happy to report that it was a hit and every last single drop…was gone. Gracie and Eden enjoyed a few cupfuls too.
As you can see, it makes quite a bit! :) Doesn’t that make you happy ? It made me happy, hahaha! So if you have some extra strawberries lying around, I suggest you make this. To make it fancy, you could pour a bit into a Margarita glass like we did. It made us all feel very high class, lol!
