Tuesday's Tidings

Hi guys, Chels here! This week, it will just be me sharing my thoughts, etc. Josh will be joining me again next week.

1. Often I workout at home. I've got dvd's and videos I watch. But finally, after all this time, I've invested in a yoga mat and I cannot wait to use it! I have a feeling my arms and especially my elbows are going to thank me.

2. Has anyone ever painted with Benjamin Moore's paints? Usually, we just buy Dutch Boy or the Miller brand from our local grocery store, but I'm not finding the tone or shade I want and I hear great things about Benjamin Moore. Can you tell me what you think?

3. I couldn't resist. Loft.com was having one of those too-good-to-pass-up kind of sales. You know the kind where everything is 50% off and they throw in free shipping to sweeten the deal? Well, I bought a dress I've been eyeing since I first saw it online and I'm praying it fits. I should have bought three more in different sizes so I could make sure!

4. We spent the afternoon at Ikea on Saturday and I've fallen in love with so many different pieces - I love how affordable they are and how fun the rooms are to walk through. Hey, has anyone ever bought a mattress from them? What did you think?

5. Right now, this cheesecake has my name on it and needs to be made in a really bad way.

6. One word. Allergies! I want them to DIE! Any other allergy sufferers out there right now who feel the same way?

7. Did you know that April is letter writing month? I don't know about you, but I love receiving letters in the mail. So who can you send a letter to this month?

8. I was thinking that I want to add more greenery into my home and I know one way to do that is having little succulent plants around. How many of you take care of succulents? This isn't something I've researched at all, but are they hard to take care of, easy to kill, etc? I don't have the greenest of thumbs...

9. We've been really tired lately and last night I kind of hit rock bottom. I fell asleep in my favorite chair and Josh brought me to bed and I slept all night long. You know what that means? Rumpled clothes and smeared eyeliner in the morning. It was so worth it, though - and so sweet of the hubby to not make me walk myself up to bed.

10. I think this Lemon Chicken Pasta from Kevin and Amanda looks amazing! I must have it!

Thanks so much for highlighting (and linking back to my blog) April as Letter Writing Month and spreading the charm of putting pen to paper and making someone's day. P.S. Hope those nasty allergies scram real quick...

Just a bit of info--I'm a Mom of 3 & Grandmom of 7--was a single Mom of about 25 yrs. Raising 1 of my g-kids. I worked the years raising mine & until 2011. Now I am at home and was lost, the first year of not working. It was a huge difference after having 1-3 jobs at a time during those years. I Remarried that year, to a man sent from Heaven itself. Anyway, I've read your contributions to Club 31 several times and some on your website. I wanted to say that you seem to be a very mature young woman both spiritually and emotionally. That is so good to see ! Also cudos for homeschooling. That takes a lot of patience. Gifts that all come from God.

On allergies---I live in the Ohio Valley in Southern Indiana--#2 on the top allergy spots in the US.-and YES I am ready for them to stop!!!! Some things that have helped...make sure you either wash your hair or (if can't) brush it out throughly to keep the allergens you pick up outside, to a minimum. We also tend to breathe in pollen, molds so I try to wipe out the inside of my nose several times a day--lol--when it runs all day not a hard thing to do! Drink plenty of water, wash hands & face when you come in from outside--or splash water on your face and pat dry. Keep your ammune system strong with whatever works best for you. Hope your allergies are short lived.

On (stretching your wings) I am with you on doing things alone--rather not, However, when I do something by myself I try and tell myself it's about doing what is good for me and not worrying about what others think.(Sometimes a difficult concept) I know that I have to take care of myself to be good for me and my family (as you said), to detox from any stress and just be still. It's tough at first, but the more you do it the easier it becomes. Something new to look forward to doing( a time for ourselves) This also teaches our children that they need to take care of their own spiritual & physical needs (within the realm of reason) so that we are better servants to our family, friends, and especially our Heavenly Father. Hope your day is filled with blessing!

      Hi, Cheri
Thanks for dropping me such a sweet note and for all of your kind words. I'm so glad you've found such a wonderful godly helper to share your days with.
It's been raining the last few days here in Oregon, so that does help with my allergies. I have a hay fever allergy, so until the farmers cut the grass around here- I don't get any relief until end of June early July. I pretty much do all of those things already-but not much I can do about my immune system however. It's pretty weak. I don't usually get out much on my own. Thankfully, my husband is really good about recognizing when I need some time to destress that doesn't involve leaving the family in a lurch. :) But, trying new things is always a little scary. I always chalk it up to walking into a new gym the first few times. You feel like you stick out like a sore thumb and then it becomes habit and normal feeling. Have a fabulous day Cheri-I pray God continues to bless you and your family. :)
