Need a quick, easy, fun, red, white, and blue snack for your Independence Day gathering? How about a little 4th of July Trail Mix?
Hey everyone, I’m sharing a cute and quick little goodie for the kiddos (or adults – no judging over here) that will be the perfect, no fuss snack that will make all the kids at your 4th of July bash happy little campers – this super duper easy 4th of July Trail Mix!
I think goodie bags are such a cute little gift idea for kids and teens because it’s personal and say, “Hey, thanks for coming.” But also, it keeps the kiddos out of the cooks hair because they are occupied eating everything inside their fun little goodie bag. Little plastic baggies that can be tied up with twine or twist-ties work as well. Of course, you could keep it even simpler with ziploc bags. Or even simpler yet, forget the cute bags and dump it all in a bowl, give it a toss and use some patriocti little cups for the kiddos to use instead. You can truly make this as simple or as creative as you like.

What I like about trail mix, especially trail mix that has kids in mind, is that you can throw almost anything together. Voila, you have a trail mix. Take it on a hike or munch on it from your backyard.
For this trail mix, I used peanuts (because my kids love peanuts), but any nut will work. (If serving this to a crowd, make sure you ask your guests if anyone has any nut allergies. One of my nieces is allergic to pecans but can eat other nuts. Mini marshmallows, are a must, red and blue M&M’s (boy, did the kids have fun sorting out the M&M colors! *Note – I wrote this post before the bags of patriotic m&m’s sporting the red, white, and blue m&m’s were available for purchase). Whatever your kids like to munch on, you could throw in this bowl.
Variations:
- mini pretzels
- shredded, flaked, or chip coconut (I’d opt for the unsweetened)
- dried fruit, like blueberries, goji berries, cranberries, etc.
- cherries or graham cracker cereal
- yogurt covered berries or raisins
- chocolate chips (minis, semi-sweet, milk chocolate, or dark)
- nuts (almonds, cashews, pecans, walnuts, macadamias, or pistachios)
Basically, whatever you have on hand and whatever your kids like is going to go down as the best 4th of July snack in history (ish). So what I’m saying is, you can’t lose!
Have a great 4th of July, everyone!

How many little bags does this recipe make?

It made 3 or 4 of that size. But you could stretch it farther if you used smaller bags.
