Apple Spice Pecans | Catz in the Kitchen | catzinthekitchen.com | #apple #fall #pecans

Hey guys, how's your October going? It's about to get tastier! I'm over at Evermine today sharing these deliciously addictive Apple Pie Spice Pecans!

I made a bunch of these nuts last year as gifts to family and they were gobbled up so quickly. My husband even adores these! He thinks I need to keep them in the house all year long. I would, too - they are incredibly easy to make. [Read more...]

Tuesday's Tidings for October 20, 2015

Tuesday's Tidings

Hers

  1. Josh and I watched Jurassic World over the weekend. Yes, I realize we're probably the only ones at this point who haven't seen it. We loved it! Full of action, full of all the good stuff from the first movie. It was a nice addition to the Jurassic set.
  2. Family outings in the colder months can be hard because it can be wet outside and we all get a bit of cabin fever. Keep your eye out on Groupon deals in the "Things to do" section. We bought a Groupon deal for our local bowling alley and used it on Sunday and we had a blast as a family. Even our youngest who is 2 ½ got in on the action and managed to bowl 2 strikes!
  3. If you've got a daughter who's in the 1st-2nd grade and is having a hard time finding books that are interesting to read, you might want to check out these two series. The first is the "Thea Stilton" Series and the other is The Princess in Black. Eden cannot get enough of these books and they are great for readers her age.

Weekly Menu for the week of Oct 19

October 18, 2015 By Chelsia Rief Leave a Comment

Weekly Menu | Catz in the Kitchen | catzinthekitchen.com | #menu #mealplanIt's beginning to feel a lot more like fall here. We've had some thunder, rain, and colder temps and I am loving it! Have you guys picked out your pumpkins yet? We haven't, but I think we're aiming to do that next weekend.

What do you think of the new weekly menu? Did you notice that there is now a save button next to the print button in the recipe index? Hopefully that will make your meal planning a bit easier. A couple of the recipes on this week's menu are either recipes I don't have a link for, or recipes we're developing, but we'll list all of the ones we have!

I'm not sure how many of you go to our Catz Facebook page, but if you haven't liked it yet, you should. We're almost up to 1,000 likes and once we hit that I am going to be offering a giveaway! How does that sound?

Have a great week guys! [Read more...]

I've been posting a pumpkin recipe at least once a week since the beginning of September. I don't know about you, but I happen to love that. However, I realize that some of you may be tired of #pumpkinflavoredeverything, and for those of you that are over the pumpkin recipes, I'm giving you a week off.

Probably just one week...

...because I can't promise you that there won't be any pumpkin recipes next week. That's my disclaimer. It's just that good...  [Read more...]

Hey guys, I'm over at Evermine sharing something pretty wonderful Slow-Cooker Pumpkin Butter! Hot diggity, it sounds good, doesn't it?

I'd never had pumpkin butter up until this point, but I was missing out because this is pretty spectacular. Did I mention how good it smells simmering all day in your slow-cooker? Oh my goodness...there aren't enough words! [Read more...]

Tuesday's Tidings for October 13, 2015

Tuesday's Tidings

Hers

  1. Sunday night I tried a new stew recipe that Josh had found. It's The Pioneer Woman's Beef Stew with Beer and Paprika! Not only does this smell amazing while it simmers away, but the broth is super tasty! I think my favorite part was the "rustic" chopping of the carrots. No peeling, just big chopped chunks. Now that's my kind of cooking!
  2. Have you guys ever heard of Adventures in Odyssey? My kids love this christian audio series. It's completely clean and it has so many sweet characters who go through real life issues. I'll often see my kids cleaning their room while they listen to the stories on their iPad. If my kids love, yours will too!
  3. I feel kind of stupid, but I just bought my first Under Armour workout tee this past week. I found it for $6.99 at the Goodwill in Bend, Oregon practically brand new! I got a chance to wear it when I went to the gym to run yesterday and I'm a believer! The shirt stayed dry while I sweated it out and I was comfortable! Now if only I lived closer to that particular Goodwill, I'd be styling all the day long!

Weekly Menu | Catz in the Kitchen | catzinthekitchen.com | #menu #mealplan

Hey, guys, and Happy Columbus Day! Please tell me you're all getting a day off, because between you and me, I think you deserve it.

We're back from vacation and all rested up. It's nice to get away ya know, but it is also nice to come home, especially when you have something to look forward to. For example, getting a new kitten (check!) or working on a new weekly menu format! For awhile now, Josh and I have been scratching our heads, trying to figure out a way to make the weekly menu a bit more accessible for you, and as helpful as possible in preparing for the week ahead. Seeing as though my pregnancy has the tendency to sometimes drain me of energy, I like to plan meals that I know I can throw together quickly, but that will still fill my family up. This is one of those go to dinners for me. I almost always have the ingredients on hand and my crockpot does all of the work for me. Which I have to say is really really nice on hot summer days when I literally feel like, "I'm melting, I'm melting!" (Quick: Name that Movie!)

Dear Readers, just in case you didn't notice already, we have finally (drum roll please) added a print friendly button at the bottom of each post. :) No more copying and pasting for you. Just hit print!

This week I fell prey to some sort of virus that was not fun. My intention was to be baking Sunday night so these cookies would be all set for Josh's lunches for the rest of the week. I didn't actually feel up to baking or cooking until Wednesday. And let me tell you, the moment I began to feel like myself, I jumped at it. These cookies just spoke to me. The recipe teased me with promises of, "You will feel better if you bake these." And it worked! These cookies are a truly magically moist morsel of goodness in your mouth.

Slow Cooker Creamy Chicken Stew

I need to be comforted. After watching the Season 3 finale of Downton Abbey, I'm needing a hug and some love. I feel oddly attached to the characters of the show. I'm wondering who's getting on Carson's nerves today, or if Daisy is indeed going to take over the farm like her father-in-law has requested. Is baby Sybil walking yet? How I wish I was served my breakfast on such a cute tray every morning by Anna and NOT O'Brien. And I think Mary and I would be best friends, because, well, let's just say we share some not-so-admirable qualities. But after Sunday...I'm not celebrating that Thomas finally seems to have a heart and has gained a friend. I'm not celebrating that Ms. Patmore had the good sense to kick the grocer to the curb. And I'm not celebrating Mary's newborn son. Well, I am...but I'm not. IT ISN'T FAIR!!! [Read more...]
