Hey guys! I am back with a weekly menu for you and you know what that means, right? I'm actually going to be cooking in my new kitchen this week!!! Finally! We went grocery shopping yesterday and got lots of good stuff and I'm thrilled. We even grilled burgers last night and it was heaven! Oh, how I missed being in a kitchen.  [Read more...]

Tuesday's Tidings

Tuesday's Tidings

As you guys all know, Josh and I bought a house and we've been taking all of last week and this week to paint, move, clean, and move the remaining loose items at our old home and clean it too. I've been snapping pictures here and there so I thought I would share.

1.  IMG_7852

Moving Day! We ended up hiring movers which was definitely the way to go this time around. It just made things get done faster and they did an awesome job.

2. IMG_7854 (1) While we moved, Christian and Eden spent the afternoon at their grandparent's house and got completely worn out. [Read more...]

No Weekly Menu this week because Catz is on the move

Things have been pretty quiet here for the past month. I feel bad about that. I've got recipes to share, but there hasn't been a lot of time to sit down and really focus on writing anything when we're in the process of moving. We've bought our first home and will be painting and moving in this week. [Read more...]

It's officially the middle of the month! I can't decide if the month feels like it's dragging or if it's going to fast. Maybe a mixture of both? I think what's throwing me off is that there are five weeks this month...even though the first week was kind of a half week. Our weather here on our side of Oregon has returned to what is generally expected. Kind of cold. Kind of rainy. Kind of sunny. And a lot of clouds.

But all of that is what makes Oregon so beautiful and I'm grateful to live in a state where the mountains, desert, beaches, and valleys are only a short drive away. How about you? What about your state makes you feel grateful? [Read more...]

Tuesday's Tidings for April 7, 2015

Tuesday's Tidings

Tuesday's Tidings

Hi guys, Chels here! This week, it will just be me sharing my thoughts, etc. Josh will be joining me again next week.

1. Often I workout at home. I've got dvd's and videos I watch. But finally, after all this time, I've invested in a yoga mat and I cannot wait to use it! I have a feeling my arms and especially my elbows are going to thank me.

2. Has anyone ever painted with Benjamin Moore's paints? Usually, we just buy Dutch Boy or the Miller brand from our local grocery store, but I'm not finding the tone or shade I want and I hear great things about Benjamin Moore. Can you tell me what you think?

3. I couldn't resist. Loft.com was having one of those too-good-to-pass-up kind of sales. You know the kind where everything is 50% off and they throw in free shipping to sweeten the deal? Well, I bought a dress I've been eyeing since I first saw it online and I'm praying it fits. I should have bought three more in different sizes so I could make sure! [Read more...]

Weekly Menu April 6-12

How was everyone's Easter? Our day started out beautiful, and then by 4pm, the rain tried to wash us out. Thankfully, the kids got in a fast Easter egg hunt before it really started to pour. Believe it or not, I haven't even gotten into any of their candy, either! Seriously, between the egg hunt, the candy they got from us, and their grandparents, I could start my own candy business!

You might have noticed that things have been pretty quiet lately and our posting has been on the sporadic side. We've been busy with a number of things, and I hope to be able to share those officially later this week (nothing earth-shattering or blog-related, I promise...). But until then, know that we're still cooking up a storm for you. We've got a ton of new recipes we want to share with you. But until then, here's this week's menu for you.  [Read more...]

Tuesday's Tidings for March 31, 2015

Hers

1. Well, spring has definitely sprung and you know how I know? Suddenly I'm sneezing with more frequency and my throat is tightening up from all the sneezing. I have such a love/hate relationship with this time of the year.

2. Because it's spring, I've been going on a cleaning rampage since last week. Every day I'm adding to the never-ending list. Yesterday, I cleaned out all of my cupboards and pantry and removed all of the expired items. I could not believe how many there were. I'm actually pretty embarrassed by it. I felt like a pantry food hoarder! But my shelves look clean and kind of bare, but it's also really nice. [Read more...]

Weekly Menu Mar 30-April 5: Easter Inspiration

This Sunday is Easter! I thought that instead of writing up a whole menu, I would just share some past recipes that could help you menu plan.

Is it just me, or is everyone else in shock that Easter is this week!? It feels like it should still be a few weeks off. But regardless, I love love love Easter. To me, it is the first holiday that signifies that spring is finally here and here in the Pacific Northwest, Easter isn't complete without a few springy rain showers. How about you? What does your Easter weather usually look like? [Read more...]

Blueberry Swirl Cheesecake

Blueberry Swirl Cheesecake
Blueberry Swirl Cheesecake | Catz in the Kitchen | catzinthekitchen.com #cheesecake
At the beginning of the month Eden and I caught this awful, terrible flu bug that pretty much wiped us out. As a parent, it is really tough watching your kids be sick. Aside from caring for them, there isn't much you can do. You just have to let the bug run its course. While Eden was on the mend, she made one simple request of me.
"Mommy, when I'm all better, will you make me a cheesecake?"
