Tuesday's Tidings for May 19, 2015

Tuesday's Tidings

Hers

1. I got my third workout outfit from Fabletics last week and I'm LOVING IT! I purchased the West Lake and the colors are so pretty, and the top...it is so dang soft and lightweight. It is so nice to have cute workout clothes because I kind of think it fuels my motivation.

2. I took the girls shopping on Saturday while the guys were touring a local aviation museum with Josh's grandpa, and we hung around in Barnes and Noble for awhile. First of all, get the S'more cookie from the Starbucks cafe in the bookstore. The three of us shared it and it was delicious. Second - I really want this cookbook from Skinny Taste. I had time to flip through it, and everything looked amazing. [Read more...]

Weekly Menu

Hey guys! How was your weekend? Ours was busy! We have several family members in town so we're making sure we spend a lot of time with them because they all leave on Tuesday. Last night, we had our second party in our new house and it was so much fun. We decided to go grill baby back ribs, hot dogs, corn on the cob, and barbecue chicken. I think our stomaches were so full we barely had room for dessert! But there is always room for dessert...right?

For about two months now, I've been playing with the "new" weekly menu idea. I went from posting what my actual dinner menu was to just picking and choosing things on the blog to inspire you. I'm not very sure how many of you have found this helpful. But, I like to keep things real, and after a lot of thought and talking to Josh, we've (I've) decided to go back to my old way of posting - sharing my actual menu with you...including links.  [Read more...]

Awhile back, Josh got me this Sling TV thing. Have you guys heard of it? It's like a little streaming doohickey that allows you to get channels without having to do the whole cable or dish thing. This thing has made my little housewife life more amazing. You know why? I can get ALL of the Food Network I want!!! (no compensation from Sling here, I swear...) [Read more...]

1. Have you heard? Liberia is free of Ebola! Praise the Lord! I have some family members who are very eager to get back to their beloved country and continue educating and spreading the word of God.

2. On May 30th, Grace has her state test for her homeschooling year and then we're done with school till the fall. We're all looking forward to it. It has been a great school year, but I think we're all ready for a break. If any of you are looking into homeschooling for the following year and you live in Oregon, I strongly encourage you to check out Oceannetwork.org for more information.  [Read more...]

I hope you all had a fantastic Mother's Day. But today is another momentous occasion. TODAY is my daughter Gracie's eleventh (What? Why?) birthday, and I'm a bit in shock that she is truly that old.

I still remember holding my little eight pound blessing in my arms and crying over her out of sheer happiness. Today, she is my faithful companion and righthand girl. I would be lost without her and the joy and pride she brings me...well, I could keep on going.

In honor of today being Grace's birthday, I'm starting the menu off with her favorite dinner... [Read more...]

Thank You for the Chatter

May 9, 2015 By Chelsia Rief 2 Comments

IMG_9669I sat in the car the other night, driving home with my oldest daughter, Gracie, from my monthly homemaking and hospitality class. It was dark and past 9 pm (close to my bedtime), and I could feel the tug of sleepiness creep into my body. Gracie, on the other hand, was energized from the excitement of that evening's class and talking a mile a minute. I struggled to fight against the weariness so I could match her enthusiasm as we drove home with music playing softly in the background.

As I sat there and listened to her move between subjects, I kept thinking (even though I was exhausted) how nice it is to listen to her talk.

We could have a relationship where we just sit in silence, with all the things we want to say to each other going unsaid.

Unsaid. Missed opportunities for her to share her heart. Her thoughts. Her hopes and dreams. And opportunities that I could miss out on for comforting her, encouraging her, sharing with her, and listening to her. [Read more...]

Hey guys, I'm back over at Evermine today with another (yes another) Mother's Day gift idea. Have you ever made jam butter before? You haven't? Well, oh my gosh, it is so easy and takes only two ingredients!

I loved this idea of fruity jam butter so much because I happen to adore toast. Toast is just one of those comfort, yummy snacks.  [Read more...]

Oven Baked Fajitas

We're settling into the new house and transitioning from leasing to owning and let me tell you, is it exciting and kind of strange. You go from this mindset of having to clear things with your landlord or not being able to do things because it's not your house to having freedom to do what you want...and total responsibility for what you do!

It's taking time to adjust. I mean, the idea that we could get another pet and not have to clear it with anybody or pay a deposit is AMAZING! Not that we're going to get another pet anytime soon.

But we could. On the other hand, knowing that we're responsible for fixing anything that needs fixing...scary much? [Read more...]

1. I'm going to rave about a product and I have my mom to thank for it. For many years, my mom cleaned houses so when I asked her what I should use on my hard wood floors to keep them clean she said buy the Bruce Cleaning System (the system because it comes with the mop, terry cloth towel, and spray) and let me tell you, it's awesome! My floors were dirty after moving and this really made it a cinch to clean my floor.

2. On Sunday, I treated myself to the new S'mores frap at Starbucks. Oh My Word, does it ever taste just like a s'more. But without the stringy mess. I loved it and so worth every calorie.

3. I've been not so secretly wanting to purchase the Anne of Green Gables dvd set for quite some time. I know my girls will love the movies and they are the perfect ages. But now that Jonathan Crombie has passed away (which is really sad) the trilogy has shot up in price. Darn it! [Read more...]
