How was everyone's week? Our kids are finally on the mend from being sick, but then Friday night, Josh felt like he was coming down with something. By bedtime, boom. He had a sore throat. We laid around the house all day Saturday and it was really nice and relaxing...though I do have a touch of cabin fever at this point.
Everyone is sick it seems, so smoothies and lots of water have been my only safeguard! It's a miracle I haven't caught it yet, with Christian coughing in my face all the time...
Okay, but seriously, here's something I want to know. How many of you bought a Powerball ticket? When I was at the grocery store on Friday, there was a line from the machine all the way to customer service which was a good walk away! I couldn't believe it! (I did not, however, buy a ticket.)
Last night we celebrated Josh's 31st birthday! He's got to be the easiest guy to buy for because all you have to do is buy him a book and he's happy.

Oh, I was going to share it with you soon, but I had a couple of other posts I wanted to share...they weren't quite ready.
But that's okay, because on Fridays at our house, we eat pizza...and since today is Friday, it only seems fitting that I share this completely amazing pizza recipe with you. I promise, you're going to love it! [Read more...]

We're officially full swing into the new year and I'm sure a lot of you are working on your new year's resolutions, whether that be staying more organized, living a healthier lifestyle, reading a bit more, giving back to others, or who knows what!
The year is your oyster! (Wait...does that make sense?)

Seeing as this is a food blog, I try to sometimes help you with the lighter fare... See what I did there?
I said, sometimes.
Sometimes means not all the time. You see, I'm a girl who is all about balance. Or, I try to be, anyway. Sometimes I want to indulge in whatever sounds good to me. For example, on Fridays (after the kids go to bed), I like to split a bowl of movie theater butter popcorn with Josh and maybe have a glass of wine or a mug of cocoa. [Read more...]

1. Downton Abbey started last night and I'm sad it's the last season, but I guess all good things have to come to an end. Right?! I'll just add that I don't think Ms. Hughes and Mr. Carson could be any cuter.
2. We had snow on Sunday and it was beautiful and spontaneous and cold! Granted we didn't get very much snow. Mostly a dusting and then a ton of freezing rain, but our Portland Zoo got snow and some of the animals just loved it!
3. Over the holiday break, we watched Mom's Night Out, War Room, and The Sound of Music! All such good movies and all movies our kids hadn't seen and they loved them all! If you haven't seen any of them, then go stream or rent them soon!

Happy New Year! I hope your 2016 has started off nicely. What did you all do for New Year's Eve? We stayed home and watched movies, made pizza, and hung out in our pjs, as usual.
It was perfect!!!
And then...everyone got sick! No joke. Our littlest is the worse off. He's got an on/off fever, sore throat, and a cough...and he is miserable. Everyone else is hanging in there, but no one feels like themselves.
We've just been trying to power through this virus with vitamin C, water, as much rest as we can get (which is hard for Josh and I because Christian is waking up off and on all night), and just taking it easy.
This weekend also brings Josh's 31st birthday, and trying to get him to decide which cake he wants is like pulling teeth! He usually asks for Texas Sheet Cake, but I always like to supply him with a few ideas. What's your birthday cake preference?
As always, remember if you're looking for old weekly menus you can click here or find them here on Pinterest.

Hers:
1. Okay, so this video is HILARIOUS! One of my sister's always seems to find the best videos on Youtube.com. Apparently, this guy just goes around saying, "Would You Just Look at That" until someone says it back. It's pretty funny!
2. I'm just going to say guys, you need to head over to Bath and Body Works. They are throwing one of their Semi-Annual Sales and let me just say that IT is a good one! I got a bunch of delicious smelling goodies and stocked up a bit and I was shocked at how little I actually spent. Seriously, this is a good time to stock up on some of your seasonal favorites.
3. So I was at the grocery store just a day before Christmas. And there was eggnog. And then I went to the store to go grocery shopping on the 26th and ALL the eggnog was gone!!!!! What happened to all the eggnog that was in the store??

So, how was everyone's Christmas? Did you eat a lot of cookies and make a mess ripping into your presents? I hope everyone got some nice things - a few things you wanted and maybe a few you needed? It's always nice when that works out. More than that, I hope you enjoyed time with friends and family, which makes for the best holidays!
Can you believe that this is the end of 2015? Where did the year go? I really feel that this year zipped by super fast. Josh is working on our top, most popular posts of 2015 and we've got a slew of other recipes we're working on, too.
Speaking of the new year, do you have any new year traditions? We like to stay home and play a few games with the kids, and then Josh and I watch a movie and just relax while the new year rolls in. Neither one of us has much a desire to go out and paint the town. I prefer to be home in my sweat pants eating popcorn, ha!
Have a great week and stay safe on New Year's Eve!
